AI Cookware Photos: That Metal Glare Is What Sells Quality

AI cookware photos live or die on the glare across polished metal and coating color accuracy. Here's what generation nails and what you still shoot yourself.

AI cookware product photos come down to one gut check: does the metal look dense and premium, or does it read as plastic? I'll walk through what light does right and where generation still trips up.

Glare and Shape: What Sells the Metal

Polished steel or aluminum throws a specific elongated highlight that our eyes instantly tag as "real metal." Generators handle this fine on simple shapes. On complicated geometry, though, like a curved handle, the glare sometimes cuts off oddly or doubles up where it shouldn't. I always check handles and rims separately from the full product shot.

Coating and Base Color

Nonstick, ceramic, enamel: each finish catches light differently, somewhere between matte and semi-gloss. If the coating has color, that shade has to match across every image in a set, or shoppers will assume they're looking at two different batches. I keep a color reference on hand whenever I'm generating a series. There's a separate piece on locking color across a product series if you want more detail.

Cookware Sets

Nesting pots of different sizes, whether stacked or lined up side by side, need careful scale work. The diameter difference between pieces has to read as obvious and believable. Without explicit proportions in the prompt, generation can render every piece as roughly the same size.

Cookware in Action

A pan or pot with food actually cooking in it sells the function better than an empty shot. Steam and food texture add real complexity here, and I've covered adding steam to a shot in more depth elsewhere. Always double-check that the amount and look of the food inside is plausible before you ship the image.

FAQ

Why does the glare on a handle look off? On curved or complex geometry, generation sometimes cuts the highlight short or duplicates it. Check handles and rims on their own, separate from the wide shot.

How do I keep coating color consistent across a set? Keep a color reference handy for every generation and cross-check the shade between images.

What happens to scale in a cookware set? Without explicit proportions, generation can render every pot or pan at nearly the same size. Spell out the diameter differences directly in your prompt.

Can I show cookware with food actively cooking? Yes, but steam and food texture add complexity. Check that the quantity and appearance of the food looks believable before using the shot.
